Icecream architect Bernardo Buontalenti great friend of Torquato Tasso, member the of Cosimo 1° de Medici, of Florece court,compleded the uffizi,designed the casiṇ medico, the famous villa Pratolino and the Belvedere fortress of Florence, among many others.
He also created marvelous stone and crystal vases and worked in the production of ceramics similar to oriental porcellain designs.
He also made fireworks, indeed such good fireworks thet he was nicknamed Bernardo of the Catherine wheel.
Bernardo was a man of many talents, and because of his gastronomic skillls he was chosen to organize sumpttons parties for the medici family.

He created special light effect and fireworks, but more importantly he dedicated himself to horganizing banquets, and for the first time he itroduced a new kind of sorbet.
Made with milk, honey,eggyolk and a touck of fine wine, creamed egg and egg-nog had arrived!
So, this man of many talents made icecream history, he understood that any food could be semi frozen and become icecream.
Now, thanks to fresh milk and eggs, we have a food, so marvelous and so good to eat that it could only have been invented in the Florentine “Renaissance”.
